9/18/2023 0 Comments Oris calibre 400 aquisThe fact that there is not what I’d call an elegant case makes the dial feel nearly isolated, with just the bezel left to frame it in a seamless arc of glass. This dial, plopped into a more formal case, would look the part with ease. The fume dial and decidedly un-chunky hands offer a grace not often seen alongside watches with 300 meter depth ratings. But even the Pelagos is more instantly recognizable as a tool/diver, where the Aquis has a simplicity and effortlessness to it that keeps you guessing, or wondering even. The Aquis is more akin to something like the Pelagos, marching to the beat of its own drum, so to speak. Oris has their Diver Sixty-Five line that covers that territory relatively well, I’d say. The Aquis is a contemporary diver, and doesn’t adhere to many of the design trends of the genre. So if you don’t like the dial and bezel presentation, you’re out of luck here. It’s a clean look that’s accentuated by the lack of any real case shape to speak of, placing all emphasis on the dial. Wide bar hour markers and broadsword hands lend a sleek and legible dial aesthetic while a ceramic bezel matches the slope of the crystal. Each is built on the original formula which is defined by the tapered cylinder case and integrated steel bracelet or rubber strap. The new Aquis joins an already sizable collection that features a healthy range of LEs, case sizes and materials, and complications ( even a depth gauge). It might look the same, but this watch represents a new chapter for Oris’ most popular watch. Oris released an Aquis Date earlier this year, mercifully in their 41.5mm case, and within it have placed their new in-house automatic movement, the caliber 400 ( which we introduced here). I believe there are a few reasons for this, which I’ll get into, but first, let’s deal with the facts. The Oris Aquis is, by every measure, a well executed, simple dive watch, yet it reads very differently from other classically styled divers like those referenced above. A good diver, when done right, is also a great watch thanks to high legibility, a practical feature set, and a flexible design language that can span wardrobe styles with ease. The appeal of a simple, well done dive watch runs deep, and I suspect that’s why we see new contenders in this genre with regularity. Chunky bezels, big hour markers, fat hands, and funky cases all appear heavily within my own watch box, from Seikos old and new to Rolex’s archetypal Submariner. Applies to watch and movement. When it comes to dive watches, I guess you could say I have a type. Warranty Extended to 10 years with MyOris sign-up.

9/18/2023 0 Comments Powder xrd analysisDiffraction of an X-ray beam by a crystalline solid is analogous to diffraction of light by droplets of water, producing the familiar rainbow. When a focused X-ray beam interacts with these planes of atoms, part of the beam is transmitted, part is absorbed by the sample, part is refracted and scattered, and part is diffracted. The three-dimensional structure of nonamorphous materials, such as minerals, is defined by regular, repeating planes of atoms that form a crystal lattice. In this configuration, the X-ray tube and the detector both move through the angle theta ( ), and the sample remains stationary. Simplified sketch of one possible configuration of the X-ray source (X-ray tube), the X-ray detector, and the sample during an X-ray scan. XRD does not, however, provide the quantitative compositional data obtained by the electron microprobe or the textural and qualitative compositional data obtained by the scanning electron microscope.įigure 1. Some mineralogical samples analyzed by XRD are too fine grained to be identified by optical light microscopy. Other information obtained can include the degree of crystallinity of the mineral(s) present, possible deviations of the minerals from their ideal compositions (presence of element substitutions and solid solutions), the structural state of the minerals (which can be used to deduce temperatures and (or) pressures of formation), and the degree of hydration for minerals that contain water in their structure. If the sample is a mixture, XRD data can be analyzed to determine the proportion of the different minerals present. XRD can provide additional information beyond basic identification. XRD is particularly useful for identifying fine-grained minerals and mixtures or intergrowths of minerals, which may not lend themselves to analysis by other techniques. XRD provides the researcher with a fast and reliable tool for routine mineral identification. In many geologic investigations, XRD complements other mineralogical methods, including optical light microscopy, electron microprobe microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. One of these methods, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), is an instrumental technique that is used to identify minerals, as well as other crystalline materials. Numerous analytical techniques are used to characterize these materials. Rocks, sediments, and precipitates are examples of geologic materials that are composed of minerals. Examples of applications of this method to geologic studies are provided. This handout provides background on the use and theory of X-ray powder diffraction. Because of the bone, a rib chop appears larger in size than a boneless chop, but it may contain a fair amount of fat. Pork rib chops are less expensive than center-cut chops or boneless pork chops, but they also contain the least amount of meat overall. The blade chop, while less common, is another type of bone-in chop that comes from the shoulder end of the loin. The two most common types of bone-in pork chops you’ll find are rib chops and center-cut chops. Virtual care is also understood as a means of making care more convenient to patients and is gaining momentum in the United States and other advanced health systems alongside other innovations such as retail clinics and other forms of walk-in care. Virtual care can, for example, increase access to care for individuals who have difficulty presenting in-person for primary care services, such as those living in long-term care facilities and/or those with mobility issues. This is, at least in part, a response to a growing focus on patient-centered care that aims to provide care that is both “accessible” and “acceptable”. The US health care provider Kaiser Permanente has altered their delivery of health care services to improve information continuity and to provide easy access to appropriate care for patients through initiatives such as electronic messaging with the care team, scheduled telephone visits, and a comprehensive patient portal. Some health systems are integrating virtual care into primary care practices as a complement to existing modes of care. New modes of contact, including virtual visits, are one potential way to solve at least some of these access issues. There are well-documented accessibility issues in urban areas as well, whereby many patients do not have a regular primary care physician or cannot access their physician for in-person appointments within a timeframe that meets their current needs. However, limited access to primary care is not a feature of rural areas only. Ĭanada is a geographically large country, and physicians are disproportionately clustered within urban and semiurban settings, with known shortages of primary care providers in more rural and remote areas. Consultations may be asynchronous, whereby patients answer structured clinical questions online and then receive care from a physician at a later time (“e-visits”), or synchronous, whereby patients interact with physicians in real time via telephone (“teleconsultations”), videoconference (“virtual visits”), or even by text. “Virtual care” is a broad term meant to capture all clinical interactions in health care that do not involve the patient and provider being in the same room at the same time. A greater orientation to information technology in primary care opens new possibilities for health care delivery, one of which is virtual care. 9/18/2023 0 Comments Character sketch of hercule poirotHis position makes him a prime suspect after Alfred is initially cleared. Dario Marianelli, who composed the music for Laika's one prior film, returned to compose the film's musical score for its second. According to Knight, he mentioned that the story for the film was partly inspired by works of Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. Assistance came from 3D printing firm Stratasys who allowed Laika to use their newest technologies in exchange for feedback on them. The stop-motion animation were inspired by Japanese media such as ink wash painting and origami among others. He was enthusiastic about the project by owing partly his affinity towards both the "epic fantasy" genre as well as Japanese culture in general, despite the studio never ventured into the genre before. By December 2014, Laika announced that Kubo and the Two Strings would be released in August 2016, with Knight to direct and produce the project, as well as the voice casting announcement. Laika's production designer Shannon Tindle pitched the fantasy story stop-motion animated film based on samurais to Knight. Accompanied by an anthropomorphic snow monkey and beetle, he must embark on a quest to defeat his mother's evil twin Sisters and his power-hungry grandfather, the Moon King, who is responsible for stealing his left eye. Set in feudal Japan, the film revolves around Kubo, a young boy who wields a magical shamisen (a Japanese stringed instrument) and whose left eye was stolen during infancy. It is directed by Travis Knight (in his feature directorial debut) with a screenplay by Marc Haimes and Chris Butler from a story by Shannon Tindle and Marc Haimes, and it stars the voice roles of Charlize Theron, Art Parkinson, Ralph Fiennes, George Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Vaccaro, Rooney Mara, and Matthew McConaughey. According to the author, at first their mindset was favoritism, comparing Eren's relationships with Mikasa and Armin to that of helping one's relatives or siblings who are encountering hardship, even if onlookers question it. Isayama said Mikasa and Armin had developed a habitual mindset of revolving around him and wishing to help Eren. By the manga's 22nd volume, Isayama drew an image of Eren looking at the sea, something that motivated him during his childhood. He viewed the scene of the trio seeing the sea as an alternate ending to the manga. Isayama further compared the trio of Eren, Mikasa and Armin to high school students who grow across childhood until graduating. For the protagonist Eren Yeager, rather than a lover, Mikasa's presence is more like a mother to him and rather than form a relationship with her, Isayama claims that he instead searches for a way to become independent. However, if that fact is just reflected in the manga normally, it would not be interesting anymore for Isayama. In reality, there are differences between the skeletal structure and muscle count of men and women which cause the difference in their potential strengths. However, he does not really like that way of thinking as it would poorly affect Mikasa's and the reason due to how she becomes a strong woman in the story. Isayama noted it is generic that a heroine is usually a woman who motivates a man. Isayama believes he was influenced by Casca from Berserk when writing Mikasa. There are some parts of Mikasa that are "unrefined", yet on the other hand, she has a brave personality. However, their reasons for protecting their respective counterparts do not have anything to do with the bloodline itself-"it is just their nature." Isayama stated that Mikasa, Levi, and Kenny are all part of the same Ackerman bloodline. He intended to show the Mikasa's lineage as an important plot point. Only Mikasa's race as someone of Asian descent has been noted. He was sure that the customer who became Mikasa's model was Asian, contrasting the Western-like characters often seen in the manga, most notably Eren. When she came to the store, Isayama came up with the first sketch of the heroine. She covered her face with a muffler late at night, and the near mangaka thought this look of hers was endearing. Both voice actress were also praised by the media.Īn example of Mikasa battleship which served as the inspiration for the character's first name.Īfter he first moved to Tokyo, Hajime Isayama was working part time and one of his clients became the model of Mikasa. Though she was praised for her calm personality which contrasts Eren's active talks, critics were also surprised by the charming side she shows towards Eren in the narrative. Mikasa is voiced by Yui Ishikawa in Japanese and Trina Nishimura in English with the two voice actress being surprised by the popularity of their works and charming sides of Mikasa despite being often stoic.Ĭritical response to Mikasa's characterization was positive for standing out as a skilled female warrior in a male-oriented series and has won several awards as the manga and anime were released. Her relationship with Eren was one originally conceived to also stand out across other love relationships due to Mikasa was not written to side with Eren as it would weaken her character while Eren instead does not find her as a love interest. Isayama based Mikasa on a real person he met before he became a manga artist keeping the original idea of her being Asian in order to stand out within the Western look a like cast. She has also appeared in video games and the anime adaptation. Nevertheless, Mikasa's main reason for fighting is due to her love towards Eren. When giant creatures known as Titans invade the area and eat Eren's mother, Mikasa and Eren become members of the Military and joins the Survey Corps-an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls and also study the physiology of Titans in order to know what they are fighting. Mikasa is introduced as a young villager living with the protagonist, the young Eren Yeager, and his family which took her following the deaths of her parents in an attempted kidnapping.
